DiasporaHub

Terms and conditions

Last updated 27/09/2026

These terms are the agreement between you and DiasporaHub. They are written in plain sentences because most of the people agreeing to them read English or Romanian as a second language, and an agreement nobody can read is not an agreement.

What DiasporaHub is

DiasporaHub is a jobs board, a marketplace for things and services, and a community, for Romanians and other Eastern Europeans living across Europe. It is a place where people find each other. It is not an employment agency, an estate agent or a shop.

By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live says so. One person, one account. The details on your account have to be true, including your name and the country you live in.

Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you, so tell us straight away if you think somebody else has got into it.

Your subscription

The public job board and the public marketplace can be read without an account. Everything else, including applying, messaging, selling, posting and the community, needs an account with active access.

Access is a monthly subscription bought inside the DiasporaHub app, through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment, and their terms cover the payment itself, including refunds. The same subscription opens the website, so you pay once. It renews every month until you cancel it, and you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account.

When you cancel, your access runs to the end of the month you have paid for. We may change the price, and if we do you will be told before it takes effect and can cancel before you are charged the new amount.

What you must not post

DiasporaHub has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove such content and suspend or close the accounts responsible.

Some things are never allowed anywhere on DiasporaHub. Posting them gets the content removed and can get your account suspended or deleted, and where the law requires it we report it to the authorities.

  • Anything involving the sexual exploitation of children. This is reported to the authorities and the account is closed permanently.
  • Sexual services, or work advertised in a way that is really an advertisement for them.
  • Weapons, ammunition and the parts that make them work.
  • Drugs, substances sold as drugs, and prescription medicines.
  • Work or offers that are really trafficking or forced labour, including any job that asks you to hand over your passport.
  • Scams: advance fees, jobs that ask you to pay to be hired, money-transfer work, and anything asking for card details or copies of your documents.
  • Counterfeit goods, stolen goods, and anything else it is illegal to sell where you are.
  • Threats, harassment, and attacks on people for who they are.

Jobs and hiring

An employer is responsible for the job they post: that the job exists, that the pay is stated honestly, and that they follow the employment law of the country the work is in.

Nobody may charge a person money for being considered, hired or kept in a job. An advert that does is removed and the account that posted it is suspended.

The marketplace

A seller is responsible for what they list: that they own it, that they may sell it, and that the description and photographs are of the actual item.

We are not part of the sale. The agreement is between the buyer and the seller, and so is the money. Meet somewhere public, look at the item before you pay, and be careful with anyone who wants to pay or be paid before meeting.

The community

Posts, comments, groups and events are checked automatically as you save them. Some are refused, a post can be held until a person on the team has read it, and the rest are published straight away. Anything the checks flag goes to the team to review.

Write things you would say to somebody in the room. Disagreement is fine. Abuse, harassment and personal attacks are not, and neither is posting somebody else’s private information.

What you post stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you post: your profile, your jobs, your listings, your posts and your messages.

By posting it you give us permission to store it and show it on DiasporaHub, on the web and in the apps, for as long as it is on the platform and for as long afterwards as we need it to meet a legal obligation. You have to have the right to post it in the first place.

Reports, moderation and removal

You can report any job, listing, post, comment, event, group or profile, and anyone you are messaging. Reports go to the DiasporaHub team. The person you report is never told who reported them. When you block someone, the team is told too, so they can check the account.

Automatic checks read the text of jobs, listings, posts, comments, groups, events, profiles and company pages. Private messages are not checked automatically, but you can report the person who sent them. Some categories are refused as you save them, some are held out of sight until a person has read them, and some are published and then queued for review. A decision closes the reports it answers and is written into a record of staff actions.

We may remove content, suspend an account or close it, when these terms are broken. Where it is not obviously deliberate we say what the problem was so it can be put right. If you think a decision was wrong, write to us at the address at the bottom of this page.

Identity verification

Verifying your identity is voluntary. It puts a verified badge next to your name, and you need it before you can start a new conversation with somebody.

The badge means a member of the DiasporaHub team has seen a document and accepted it. It is not a guarantee about the person, their job advert or the thing they are selling, and it does not remove the need to be careful.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time, in the app or on the website. Deleting it revokes your sign-ins, removes your personal details and takes your content down, except where we are required to keep a record.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel that in your App Store or Google Play account, otherwise it keeps renewing.

What we are and are not responsible for

We do our best to keep DiasporaHub running, accurate and safe, but we provide it as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, and we cannot promise that a job advert, a listing or a person is genuine, which is why the safety advice on this page matters.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for what happens between you and another member, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes and which law applies

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed, and we will tell you about anything significant before it takes effect. Carrying on using DiasporaHub after that means you accept the new version.

These terms are governed by the law of the country DiasporaHub is established in, and disputes go to the courts of that country, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your own.

If anything here is unclear, or you think we have got something wrong, write to us.
